Blue Hill at Stone Barns. 630 Bedford Road,  Pocantico Hills.  914.366.9600. The famed restaurant on the grounds of David Rockefeller’s property in Pocantico Hills.  Blue Hill’s renowned chef uses top-of-the-line ingredients grown on the property, and everything served is locally raised in an environmentally responsible fashion.  A true gourmet lover’s delight.

The Kraft Bistro (American Bistro).  104 Kraft Avenue, Bronxville.  914.337.4545.  Innovative and tasty American fare.  Kraft also enjoys a lively and well-deserved bar scene.  Kraft is the perfect candle-lit spot for a quiet dinner for two, or perfect for a great girls night out too.

Polpettina (Italian).  102 Fisher Avenue  914.961.0061  Polpettina means “little meatball”, and our assessment of this spot is that it is a little gem.  Open for lunch and dinner, their food is simple and delicious, made from the freshest ingredients sourced from local farmers and fishermen.  Polpettina does a big take out business, but is also a fun dining spot with lots of character if you are in the mood for a cosy, casual outing a deux— or with the kids.

Encore Bistro Francais.  22 Chatsworth Avenue, Larchmont.  914.833.1661.  A gem of a french boite.  French fry “people” swear that theirs are the best.

Ruby’s (Oyster Bar and Seafood).  45 Purchase Street, Rye.  914.921.4166.  Tasty seafood, in a fun space.  Do request to sit downstairs if possible, unless you are with a large group.

Il Baccio Trattoria (Italian).  1 Park Place, Bronxville.  914.337.4100.  There is a reason why this place is packed for 12 hours straight, 7 days a week.  Their pizza melts in your mouth and comes in many varieties (may we recommend their very own cheese-less “avocado salad pizza”?).  The following are also excellent and the ultimate in freshness: salads, soups, sandwiches, pasta specials, fish specials. Last but not least, their large selection of gelato (ice cream) is made on site everyday. Come in for a quick lunch, or make a night of it and enjoy a nice dinner with a great bottle from their wine list.

Harry’s Burrito (California Mexican).  94 Chatsworth Avenue, Larchmont.   914.833.2222 The Manhattan owners of Benny’s Burritos and Harry’s Burritos moved to Larchmont and elected to bring us the best taste of the city.  Harry’s Burrito is the ultimate in campy and casual.  Go by yourselves for the tasty margaritas, or bring the kids for lunch or an early dinner (and ask for the day-glo bracelets).  The best of style and tasty fare, on a dime.

Park Place Bagels (Fresh Baked Bagels)  9 Park Place, Bronxville 914.793.7114  The place to see and be seen in the mornings, 7 days a week, as you walk to the train station or start your day.  The best bagels, minis, and flavels to be found!  Ask for the owner, Claudio, or Jose— and tell them that “Maria” sent you.

The Kneaded Bread.  181 N. Main Street, Port Chester.  914.937.9489. Breakfast and lunch.  They are known for their their absolutely delicious sandwiches, soups, homemade breads, and desserts.  The space is also very cool with an industrial feel to it.  Everything on offer is top-of-the-line and made on-site.   The store is located in an up-and-coming neighborhood with an urban feel to it. We wish they would branch out into other Westchester towns so we could share the wealth, but it is definitely worth the trip.

Haiku 56 Pondfield Road  914.337.5601 Lunch, Dinner. Bronxville   The best Japanese and Pan Asian restaurant in the area.   Dine in, or have them deliver (they arrive at your house in seemingly two seconds, if you live in Bronxville).   We cannot recommend their food, or their service, more highly!

M.A.D. Cafe (Modern American Dining)  129 Wolfs Lane  914.738.7396  Pelham.  Breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Great salads, sandwiches, and burgers.  For dinner, they also offer macaroni and cheese— “with up to four mix-ins”.  The setting is cool and industrial in feel.  Eat in, or take out.  M.A.D. is a great find, and is worth the trip to Pelham!

Village Cafe (Diner:Breakfast/lunch/dinner).  143 Parkway Road, Bronxville.  914.202.9083.  Serves a tasty breakfast/lunch/and dinner.  Not cheap by any means for cafe fare, but they offer old favorites like pancakes/grilled cheese/omlettes/etc. combined with a menu of good salads and full fledged entrees.

Johnny’s Pizzeria.  30 W. Lincoln Avenue, Mount Vernon.  914.668.1957 (NO DELIVERY).  Okay— the BEST NY pizza that we have ever had in our lives, period.  The location is off the beaten path, but this is one urban adventure that is well worth it.  No slices, no delivery.   So eat in, or pick up… and remember to thank us for leading you to one of the most heavenly thin crust pies you will ever have the pleasure of enjoying!
